It’s rare when the next male supermodel comes from a graduating class of 13 in a small town called Shady Cove, Oregon. But Sean Harju is living a “Model Life,” being booked by Narciso Rodriguez and Karl Lagerfield, and having appeared at “Fashion Week,” the modeling industry’s biggest event of the year. Then Harju secured the job most coveted by every male model; a solo editorial in a top fashion magazine with a top photographer. In the May issue, Harjo booked six pages in GQ magazine —with Tom Cruise on the cover. The booker at GQ was so impressed with Harjo he e-mailed IMD President Teresa Pollman just to tell her how wonderful he was to work with. Soon after the shoot, Harjo appeared on NBC’s Today Show in a fashion segment for the magazine.

Medford’s IMD discovered Harju on a scouting trip at his school. It wasn’t long before he did his first photoshoot and was selected to attend the IMTA Los Angeles convention in January of 2006, where he received a lot of attention.

Since then the Shady Cove resident has been requested by top designers such as Christian Dior who flew the new model to New York just to meet him. Harju was also flown to Milan late last month to shoot with the industry’s hottest photographers for Arena Magazine at Donatella Versace’s mansion. He also shot for Abercrombie & Fitch, American Eagle and Lord West. In March, Harjo booked the Dolce & Gabbana campaign with Steven Klein and also did a spread in Details magazine.

All this international buzz for a kid from Shady Cove? We say, not too shabby for an 18-year old small town kid who had never traveled out of Oregon! We expect big things from Sean Harju so keep your eyes open. You never know where he’ll appear next.
